Message 04

Last week we looked at the types of human beings we have in the world today according to the Scriptures. Today we continue to take a closer look at these categories.

  1. The Psuchikos man: (1Corinthians 2:9-16)

This is the sensuous man who hasn’t had an encounter with God. This refers to humans who haven’t embraced salvation and has not come acrossthe Grace of God. Their souls are still in the Adamic nature. Though the natural man may be fascinating, kind, generous, beautiful or handsome; they can also be wicked. The evil in them haven’t yet encountered the changing grace of God. You cannot give what you don’t have. If the un-renewed man has to make any decision it will be ruled by their sensuous nature. And this is the difference when you accept Jesus; you are translated to a new creation in Christ.

  1. The Sarkikos man: (1Corinthians 3:1-4)

This is the Hebrew word for the carnal or fleshy man(male and female). This category includes people that have embraced the work of God and the sacrifice of God; having the form of godliness but denying the power thereof. They can call the name of Jesus and have mastered the “act” of Christianity. It has become a practice to them. It can be learned by anybody. That is why the bible says that it is not all who call “Lord, Lord” that will enter into the kingdom of God. This set of people think according to the flesh and they just want to satisfy the desires of their flesh.

They also don’t pay much attention to the Holy Spirit. They are led by their flesh thus they do whatever they want to do. The Holy Spirit finds it difficult to lead them because they want to be in Charge of the Holy Spirit. These types of Christians remain the way they are. They remain babies in Christ. They can only understandthe simplest truths. They have no clue about certain deep things of God because they are immature.

They may call themselves Christians and be in the church but they are self-centered, self-focused, prideful and conceited. They even discriminate against others in the church. They feel they are better than others and as such they carry themselves with arrogance. They are moved by the rave of the moment and they are very concerned about what people say about them. They are in the church yet they are very fleshy and think the church is a place for Fashion Parade. They can go to any length to build and maintain their image before men. And they only associate with people in their socio-economic status. They will not talk or associate with people they think are of a lower class than they are. The put their identity in physical things, forgetting that in the grave there is no class. We are all in the same class because when we all die, we will all be buried in the ground. And ironically regardless of your class, when you die, it is the people without class that will bath and clothe your corpse. There is no class in death. Pain and prison has no class, you need to visit certain places like the hospital and the prisons to learn the lesson of life and then we would deflate our egos.

Galatians 5:15-26

The bible says if you bite and devour one another in strife be careful that you and your whole fellowship are not consumed by one another. One of the problems we have in the church today is that the carnal Christians are sowing the seeds of discord, and causing divisions in the church. They are allowing the flesh to rule their spirit. The bible says we should walk and live habitually in the Holy Spirit, responsive and controlled and guided by the Spirit. Then we will certainly not gratify the cravings and desires of the flesh, of human nature without God. All manner of evil exists in our flesh. The only way the flesh will not overpower you is when you allow the Holy Spirit to lead and guide you.

You don’t need anybody but the Holy Spirit to guide you. Without him, you would be buried in your ego and selfishness. The desires of the flesh are opposed to the Holy Spirit and the desires of the Spirit are opposite to the flesh. They are antagonistic to each other and continually stand in conflict with each other. You cannot be in the world and in the church at the same time. There is no common ground. You are either for the Spirit or for the Flesh. You can’t be cool with the World and be cool with the Holy Spirit. They are contrary to each other. The godless human nature is in constantly in conflict with the godly nature. That is why after a while, carnal Christians get frustrated and get angry with God.

Those who know their God will be strong and do exploits but those who don’t know their God will be constantly confused. When you live by the spirit, even when you fall into sin, you will not justify it or live in it, you will be convicted of your wrong doing. The carnal mind is always confused because they don’t know who they are and who their God is. Many of us today drop our Christian nature because somebody said something, or because celebrities or world powers are saying something.

Carnal Christians get their comfort from the world. They still want to know what is going on in the world and strive to be like the world. How can you be in the Lord and still want to be in world? When you are guided by the Holy Spirit, you are pure. But the carnal man tries to justify their indecency and immorality and impurity. Carnal people cannot stand up for what is right. Indecency has become the order of the day in our society today but if your heart is clean, you will dress in a clean way. We need to know who we are and embrace the leadingof the Holy Spirit. We need to get to a point in our lives where we don’t justify sin and put our godly character aside.  Woe unto you if you try to justify sin. If you accept your sins how can you change them?

We are letting loose the gates of our righteousness and many things are creeping in unawares. Idolatry, sorcery, enmity, strife, jealousy, anger, selfishness, divisions, party spirit…Many in the church today have formed sects and have sectioned themselves. Even in the church many groups of people are marginalized. Ifyou are in Christ, you are a new creature behold all things are past and old are become new. When you come to church don’t look for tribe rather look for fellowship and brotherhood. Beware because there are many in the church that walk in the flesh and are seeking division among the brethren. Carnal Christians don’t know their limits, they are controlled by things like alcohol, and they are drunk and have riotous behaviors. The bible says all the people doing all these things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.

  1. Pneumatikos man: (Ephesians 5:18-20)

This refers to the spiritual and renewed man. A Christian who has allowed himself to be renewed by the Holy Spirit, they are spirit filled, working with the Holy Spirit and they walk in full communion with God.

The bible says do not be drunk with wine, but rather be ever filled and stimulated with the Holy Spirit in fellowship. Let him be the companionat your side at every moment. When you walk with him you will feel his presence 24/7. When you are filled with the spirit, you will speak out to others in Psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, offering praise with voices and instruments and making melody with all your heart to the Lord. At all times and for everything giving thanks in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ to God the father. Those who walk with the Holy Spirit, have a sweet spirit. They will be always grateful; they are not difficult to deal with.

(Galatians 5:22-26)The Scripture says that the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Those who walk with the spirit are always joyful, cheerful and peaceful people. They are patient people. When you become born again, your character has to change. The spirit of God transforms you, and you become more of him and less of your old self. With the Holy Spirit, you can do all things and everything. If you are led by the spirit, you are faithful, kind and good. If you speak in tongues and you don’t have the fruits of the spirit, you are a noise maker. It is impossible to have the Holy Spiritand remain the same person you were. There has to be a great change after you meet God. The Holy Spirit changes your character, your perception, your judgment and your mindset. When you are led by the Holy Spirit, you are humble and meek and have self-control and self-restraint. When you walk in the flesh, you have the law against you but when you walk in the spirit, there is no law against you. When you are led by the Holy Spirit, the more you speak in tongues, the more your life is transformed to be more like God.

(Isaiah 11:2-5) The spirit of the Lord shall rest upon you and the spirit of wisdom and understanding, the spirit of counsel and might, the spirit of knowledge and of the reverential and obedient fear of the Lord. You can get this wisdom when you embrace the Holy Spirit. You may have been foolish before but the Holy Spirit brings you wisdom and understanding. He changes your perception about things and you have an illumination in your spirit. When you allow the Holy Spirit to teach you, you become elegant, poise, polite, wise and graceful. Wisdom doesn’t come as a result of age or certificate but as a result of the Holy Spirit. The bible says the Holy sprit will teach us all things. There are no universities of wisdom and understanding. The wisdom we are talking about is not a carnal knowledge. When you have the Holy Spirit in you, you have the ability to counsel others in whatever they go through. That is why I tell people that you don’t need a certificate to do the work of God. All you need is the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit also gives you the might.

I pray that each of us will be led by the Holy Spirit in every area of our lives to the glory of God the father, in the name of Jesus Christ, Amen.
